INTRODUCING NATURAL CHOCOLATES
Our newest shade family is not only a must-have color this fall, it's also one of our most versatile families yet. With a permanent and demi-permanent option, the Natural Chocolates family allows you to create beautiful results across all hair types, no matter what their end goal is. From creating deep, dark chocolate hues to adding dimension to your blonde clients, see how some of our Redken Artists are already using Natural Chocolates.
The Shades EQ Bonder Inside + Cover Fusion Difference
To ensure every client can achieve the rich, chocolate shade of their dreams, this family is available in two of our beloved color brands that address different client needs.
Cover Fusion, our permanent color line with pre-blended shades, is stylists’ go-to for covering stubborn grays and creating a multi-dimensional, natural finish. This low-ammonia formula provides 100% gray coverage while addressing aging hair issues like loss of shine and elasticity. Because Cover Fusion works on an American Level system, there are more increments of lighter brown shades, allowing you more color formulation options with Natural Chocolates. Best of all, these premixed shades allow you to spend more time coloring and less time mixing.
Shades EQ Bonder Inside is our demi-permanent gloss with a built-in bonder, allowing you to tone and repair hair in one step. From refreshing your client’s color to creating dimension with lowlights, Shades EQ Bonder Inside has many uses. No matter how you use it, this acidic formula balances the hair’s pH, adds intense shine and is ultra-conditioning, making it the perfect choice for every client that undergoes a lightening service.
While these lines both have distinct uses, Shades EQ Bonder Inside and Cover Fusion can (and should) be used together without any banding.
THE REDKEN COLOR MANTRA
To help you create rich, multi-dimensional chocolate color, Shades EQ Bonder Inside and Cover Fusion can be used in unison. Together, these product lines maximize color results and minimize stress of your client’s hair. Based on this principle, Redken created our unique approach to haircolor: The Redken Mantra.
This mantra is based on pH science, understanding that each hair zone accepts color differently based on the condition of the hair.
Zone 1: Regrowth or root area, approximately the first ½ inch of hair
Zone 2: Mid shaft area, begins where Zone 1 ends
Zone 3: Overly porous ends of hair extends past shoulders
By using both alkaline (Cover Fusion) and acidic color (Shades EQ) across these zones, you can create gorgeous color results with less damage to your clients’ hair. Here’s how it works.
1. Alkaline color should only touch virgin hair when possible. In this case, Cover Fusion should be used on Zone 1—the regrowth or root area.
2. Acidic color should always be used on Zones 2 and 3 to prevent damage and protect previously-colored hair. By using Shades EQ Bonder Inside on Zones 2 and 3, you’ll provide amazing condition and shine while repairing weakened bonds.
With this technique, you’ll be able to create beautiful, customized chocolate color while ensuring your client leaves with healthy looking and feeling hair.
